As a parent and retired educator, I've spent my life raising our family, working with others, and serving in education at all levels. My background is in English, history, media, literature and education with undergraduate and graduate degrees earned at Mary Washington College, Madison College and University of Virginia. After teaching for 38 years, I have retired from teaching at Quantico High School on the Marine base and Park University classroom, AS an avid reader I prefer history, science, mystery and biography. Over the years I've reviewed for education magazines, and have begun a family history.
Since 2005 I have been active in the Mary Washington Hospital Auxiliary and am president of that organization as well as president of the Northern District of the Virginia Association of Hospital Auxiliaries. Volunteering on behalf of the arts and social needs is important, as well as taking part in several choruses in the Fredericksburg area. In June I was elected Vice Regent of my DAR chapter, and have become program chair, as a result. Also, I serve on the Organ committee at my church, the Fredericksburg Arts Commission and the Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers' Society.
Situations that require order, organization, focus and direction as well as service to others usually attract me, and from these interactions my personal skills have increased. I look forward to serving the Rappahannock Pops Orchestra as it begins its eleventh year of artistic service to this community.
