Soloist • AMy Wood, Piano

Amy Wood, a senior at Stafford High School in Stafford County Virginia, started taking piano lessons when she was five. From 2009-2013, Amy studied privately with Judith Whitmore, and prior to that, she studied piano with Dory Medina for six years. Since beginning college in the fall of 2013, Amy began piano study with David Friend. She has participated in a number of festivals and competitions, and has placed every year in the Rappahannock Musical Society Scholastic Competition during high school, including first place in ninth and twelfth grade. Last year she also placed first in the Fredericksburg Bland district and regional competition and performed as a soloist with the Piedmont Symphony Orchestra in February 2013. Additionally, Amy was the SkillsUSA 2013 National champion in architectural drawing and will compete at the World SkillsUSA competition in 2015. In her free time, Amy enjoys reading and watching enormous quantities of movies. Amy currently attends Cornell University as an architecture major, and she intends to minor in piano performance.

Soloist • Megan Walton, Soprano

Megan Walton is currently a freshman at James Madison University on a vocal scholarship and hails from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Megan is a coloratura soprano and throughout her career has been selected for every major honors choir to include All-County, All-District and All-Virginia Chorus, as well as ACDA Honors Choir and VMEA Seniors Honors Choir. Some of her distinguished awards include 1st place in the Local, Regional, and District levels of the 2013 James Bland Competition; 1st place in the 2013 Fredericksburg Young Artists Competition; and 1st place vocalist in the 2013 Rotary International Music Competition. She currently studies under Dr. Dorothy Madison at JMU and is privately coached by Ms. Toni Crowder.
